How this works, and what it isnβt
Egyptian hieroglyphs were not an alphabet. Scribes combined signs for sounds, signs for whole words and silent signs that hinted at meaning, and they mostly didnβt write vowels.
Among those signs were about two dozen that stood for a single consonant. This tool spells English letters with those uniliteral signs, the same approach museums use in βwrite your name in hieroglyphsβ activities. It is a fun transliteration, not a translation into Ancient Egyptian.
Cartouches
Royal names were written inside an oval loop called a cartouche, which marked them as belonging to a king or queen. Turn on the cartouche option to frame your name the same way.
